PANELISTS BIOS

Gary Dillabough
Partner
Westly Group

Mr. Dillabough runs the Clean Building Materials Practice at the Westly Group.  Prior to joining the Westly Group, Mr. Dillabough was the General Manager of Corporate Environmental Affairs at eBay.  In this capacity he led all of eBay’s environmental efforts and helped design and set specifications for a 200,000 sq ft Gold LEED certified building.  In addition he installed San Jose’s largest commercial solar deployment (650 kW) and a 500 kW fuel cell.  During these projects, Mr. Dillabough met with and built relationships with numerous green building material suppliers and vendors.

Prior to that Mr. Dillabough was the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at eBay. This team generated $575 million in revenue through revenue sharing agreements and ad sales over a five year period.  Mr. Dillabough negotiated and put in place a number of large partnerships with the US Postal Service, UPS, General Electric, Sun, and Fidelity.  He also oversaw the acquisition and integration of FairMarket which at one time was one of eBay’s largest competitors.

Mr. Dillabough has a BS in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic University. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Lucile Packard Hospital Foundation and OneMillionLights, and formerly served as a director of the Internet Advertising Board (IAB) and the One Laptop Per Child Association (OLPC). Mr. Dillabough recently installed a 5 kW fuel cell at his home. This is one of the first residential installations in the state.

Eric Horn
Founder and Principal

Eric has been a top tier member of the Bay Area building community for over twenty years. In March of 2007, he left Webcor Builders with Ross Edwards to form The Build Group Inc.

As Webcor Builder's former Senior Vice President responsible for Northern California and San Diego Operations, Eric guided Webcor through its greatest growth and most profitable years. He led Webcor's drive and focus on several key operational areas; most notably: LEED Certification and Sustainability, Safety, In-Place Quality; Design- Build, CAD project Schedules, Jobsite Business Plans and increased overall profitability. He served as Project Executive on several Webcor projects including: Letterman Digital Arts Campus (Presidio), Oracle Campus in Redwood City; Foundry Square Project in San Francisco, Radisson Hotel, South San Francisco (Design-Build), Broadway 655 in San Diego, Seahaus Condominiums in La Jolla.

Patrick Lemieux

California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo

Over the past four years, he has been working at establishing a Wind Power Research Center at Cal Poly, and has presented some of the progress made in that effort at American Wind Energy Association conferences nationally, and in a federal congressional panel on energy issues. The goal of the proposed Center is to prepare the next generation of wind power mechanical engineers, by studying and developing systems according to a design philosophy relevant to utility-scale wind turbines, but implemented to small machines suitable for university research and teaching. His prime area of research focuses on the aerodynamic design and control of wind turbine blades, although his interests include the turbine system assembly as a whole.

Matthew Woods
Vice President and General Manager
AEE Solar

Matthew has been with Mainstream Energy, parent company to REC Solar and AEE Solar since 2003. Over the last 7 years Matthew and his team have been responsible for expanding the residential presence of REC Solar to becoming the largest residential solar installer in the US. During his tenure, Matthew also led the efforts to establish REC Solar’s Commercial and Government Divisions, which today are responsible for installing over 30MW’s of solar annually. Matthew is most proud of the growth of the company and the sales management team that he works with.

In 2010 Matthew took the position as General Manager for AEE Solar, a leading solar distributor in North America, with the vision of leveraging the shared strengths of both REC Solar and AEE Solar to improve the overall customer experience. Matthew graduated with honors from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in Finance and Economics. Prior to joining Mainstream Energy, Matthew worked in the banking and financial services industry. Matthew is married to his wife Allison and has a two sons. Matthew is passionate about renewable energy and in working to fulfill Mainstream Energy’s vision of bringing solar energy to the mainstream.

Carl Salas, P.E.

Salas O’Brien Engineers

Mr. Salas has been evaluating and re-designing existing energy infrastructures and power systems since 1974; and helped to found Salas O'Brien Engineers, Inc. in 1979.  During that time he has surveyed, tested or designed literally thousands of power/energy systems, energy-efficiency projects, infrastructure/utilities projects or advanced/alternative energy projects. Along with his ‘real world’ approach to facilities and energy engineering, he has assisted in quality control as well as conventional planning, design, construction, and commissioning.  Throughout his professional career, he has also instructed more than 5,000 engineers and facility managers in the ‘art’ and practice of energy-based and environmental-based systems engineering.  One of his recent seminars, Fundamentals of Sustainable Development and Carbon Reduction, has been held in Atlanta, Washington DC, and San Diego.   Most importantly, he has excellent communications skills which allow him to leverage his technical and financial expertise.
